Southern Girls Challenge ~ June Anything Goes

Crafty pals I'm popping in quickly today, to share a creation I made for our latest Southern Girls Challenge. It's an 'Anything Goes' challenge with three great sponsors and awesome prizes on offer, so come and join the fun. This challenge closes on Thursday Kiwi time, but you've still a couple of days to enter and with it being 'Anything Goes', it's easy peasy!

I was very late to the party with my creation for this challenge. I actually have stepped back a bit from creating and wasn't going to join this challenge, but I couldn't help but colour up this beautiful image when our lovely sponsor offered it. This blossom image is so beautiful and was such a pleasure to colour! As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to colour it up for my boss, who back at Christmas time, (or just before actually) had commissioned me to create 20 Christmas cards and 20 birthday cards! This of course only a couple of weeks before Christmas, sent me into a complete tail spin, because between the DT work I do and my 9-5, there really was NO time to create so many cards bespoke all in one hit! So I focused on the Christmas ones and managed to get 24 I think in the end created, and then a little later made her a masculine birthday card for one of her brothers big birthdays. I've yet to share that, but will, as it turned out quite well, thanks to my talented sister, who is a photographer. Long story for another post. But I'd not created any of the other birthday cards she'd requested, as I'd just not had time since. So this was definitely made for her.

I coloured up the flowers with my Copic Markers and had the design of the card all set to go, it's not too different to the creation I made here and I wanted a similar feel for this card, because that poppy card, was the reason my boss commissioned all the cards. I gave her the poppy card for her birthday and she really loved it, so I wanted to create a similar sort of feel with this creation. I love the simple elegance of the panel popped up on foam, a fun black and white paper so the colouring features and a bit of sparkle with a strip of glitter cardstock and some Wink of Stella on the flower centres, like a touch of dew.

I loved creating this floral card so much, it inspired me to pull out a couple of floral Whimsy Stamps too, so I'll share those soon, as they will also be going to my boss for her collection. That'll be four of the 20 done, hehe. I don't think non-crafty folks, understand the time and love that goes into these creations or how long they can take. But hopefully I'll get a few more done soon for her. I'd be sorted if she liked 'cute' creations, but her style is more this elegant CAS sort of style. Which I don't do very often, but oh I do love when I do, it really is a sweet change to create in this style.

Sentiments are so personal and I really wanted my boss to choose her sentiment, so took in a handful of lovely sentiment sets, some Penny Black (which I adore) and of course several of my lovely Whimsy Stamps sentiment sets and she chose only two sentiments out of the 8-10 sets I took in, both from Whimsy Stamps sets! This lovely sentiment which I think works so well for this creation is from a stamp set called Enjoy The Little Things. This set also has a beautiful hummingbird and some poppies as part of it and I've yet to use those in the set, so that'll go on my 'craft for the boss' list too.

Well, I was way chattier than I meant to be in this post, you got the whole story, hehe. I have another post to do tonight, so I'll leave it there and wish you a wonderful week, though do pop back soon, as I will share another creation very shortly. Hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo
