Whimsy Stamps ~ "I'm melting, melting. Ohhhhh, what a world, what a world."

Crafty friends, I've been sitting on my hands desperate to share this cute creation with you! Crissy's Halloween Accessories is such a fun set, with the cutest witches legs ever! You might recall I used these a couple of years ago for a fun Candy Bag Decoration. Do you know I still have that candy bag and we pull it out and fill it every year to share with the neighbourhood kids. I noticed there were a few sets around with witches legs again this year, but quite honestly, there are none I've found that quite compare with Crissy Armstrong's cute ones. I'd love a pair of these shoes! I actually managed to get hold of some stripy stocking for this Halloween! Hehe.

You may recall my little Witches Hat Tutorial from last year, when I made the Halloween Wall Hanging. So I made one of these little hats to complete this creation. I thought it went well with the cauldron this year. I really wanted to create a cute 3D decoration for my Halloween display that included a cauldron. Now I have to be honest, this is not new to me, this pattern and cauldron design comes from the very talented Sandie from The Paper Cove has the most fabulous step by step tutorial to create this cauldron. I had to hunt for a heptagon and have a great one for this that fits well when printed full size, so if you'd like to give it a go, ping me and I'll send you that template. But the rest of the tutorial you'll find over on Sandie's blog. A handy tip, I did use the long edge die from one of Whimsy's Slimline sets, to help me get even sides on the 7 strips needed for each layer to create the body of the cauldron. Thumbnail of that set below.

I really love how this wee cauldron turned out and it is quite 'substantial', you can get a decent amount of candy in there! I'm using mine as a decoration for Halloween, rather than a candy cauldron, but if you wanted to, it'd take quite a lot of smaller pieces of candy to fill this!

But of course the pièce de résistance in this creation is these amazing witches legs of Crissy's! I had some orange satin that was waste from work, so I used this to create the 'petticoat' for the witch, I propped the witches hat on a little stick and then popped the witches legs in amongst the folds of fabric, to make it look like the witch had fallen in the cauldron. Those of you who know the Wizard of Oz, may have picked up my hat tip in the title of this post. The witches words after Dorothy threw the water on her. I had such fun making this Halloween decoration, finished with a lush orange bow from older Some Odd Girl stash, which is so bright, I've struggled to know what to do with this ribbon, until this year, when it came into its own for this and another Halloween creation which I'll reveal later this month.

Check back soon as I've loads to share this month and of course come and join us this weekend in our Whimsy Stamps Facebook Group, where we are having loads of World Cardmaking Day fun! Look forward to seeing you there. Hugs xoxo
