Whimsy Stamps ~ Halloween Release
Hey crafty friends, if you've been following my blog a while, you'll know I'm a fan of the too cute to spook Halloween makes and I've been getting very excited for another term with the wonderful Halloweeners! Not sure how I landed that gig, but I'm so in my happy place designing with them! August 1st was the official 'kick off' for our Halloweeners term and we will of course wrap up the fun on October 31st. It always goes way too fast for me, but I'm excited to have all the fun along the way. We've just had our big Halloween Release for August having had a much smaller one back on the 1st. So I'm going to be coming at you with a few makes in a row. I hope you'll enjoy them all and here is my first...
Pink for Halloween? What do you think? I love pink and brown together, my mumma used to dress my sister's and me in pink and brown when we were little, so I have a happy connection to these colours used together. I really love how this combination looks on this make, especially with the pretty pink webs!
I ink blended the card base with Distress Inks in Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo and then splattered the background liberally with water to get that distressed grungy finish. I did the same with the little sentiment strip too. I stamped the sentiment in VersaFine Clair Pinecone Ink and then clear heat embossed it. I really like this sentiment, it's so fun with its little Jack-o-Lantern in place of the 'o'. So I thought it was a good fit for this card. I used a rectangle label die from the Slimline Envelope Builder Die Set to cut the sentiment frame. I need to remember I have these more often! They're great for this kind of thing. I popped up the sentiment panel on a bit of foam for dimension.
I also ink blended the edge of the pumpkins with Kitsch Flamingo Oxide Ink and then splattered those with water as well for a bit of texture and shading. This doesn't show well in the pics, but is a nice finish up close. I've cut the slimline panel with a simple slimline frame that gives a very gentle rounded edge on the corners. I didn't want anything too fancy with all the shimmery embossing powder adding lots of interest to that area. This powder is from Sizzix and is a really pretty shimmery pink embossing powder called Cherry Blossom and is an Opaque Embossing Powder from their Making Essentials Collection. I glued the finished frame onto a panel of Lawn Fawn Brown Woodgrain Cardstock, which finished the design so well. Then stuck that on a slimline card base. A fun too cute to spook Halloween card.
Here's the linked banner for the brand New Release that's just gone live at Whimsy. So many fun and fabulous Halloween elements, plus a few cute everyday stamps sets too. There's something for everyone! Did you spot that cool creepy tree stencil? I'll be back soon with a make using that which was so much fun to create! See you again very soon with the next sleuky instalment of my Halloween adventures. Hugs, Wends xoxo
(I share thumbnails to the elements I design with in order to make your search for them easier, in case you like something I've used. I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever. It helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I am proud to design for the companies I do and always feel happy to share where my inspiration and where my crafty stash comes from. I am occasionally gifted products to use, but I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)
