Whimsy Stamps ~ Halloween Subway Art
Hey crafty friends, I have been really enjoying looking at Halloween Subway Art the past few years, I've printed a couple of freebies made by crafty graphic designers in the past to use as Halloween décor, but this year, I thought I'd try creating my own! My favourite versions are either black and orange, or a mix of the Halloween colours. So I thought I'd pull out my Halloween sentiment sets and die sets and see what I was inspired to put together. The idea had been rattling around in my brain for a while, so it was fun to pull out the elements and start the creating!
I pulled out some cardstocks in Halloween colours. The purple I've used is Gina K's Plum Punch and the green is Gina K's Key Lime. The orange is a lovely cardstock with a shimmer to it, from a local NZ art store. I played around with the placement of the diecuts, figured out which colours to use where and then started sticking them in place. I added some rub on spiders and candy corn. I drew in a little silvery thread for the spider in the 'boo' with a Gelly Roll Sparkle Pen. After laying down all the elements, it was obvious there were too many 'open' spaces and no rub ons that fit them perfectly, so I pulled out my smaller sentiment sets and found two that worked well to fill these gaps. The little bat and some of the small sentiments come from the Handmade Monsters Stamp Set and the Ghost and 31 Oct come from the Halloween Postage Clear Stamp Set. It was fun finding little elements that would work together to fill these spaces whilst adding to the theme and overall look of the piece. I love how it all came together and have it hung on one of our walls for Halloween décor.
We are in full swing with our Halloween crafting at Whimsy Stamps and we have so many fabulous new releases for the season waiting in the wings! I cannot wait for the release to drop on the 15th as it's full of such incredibly fun Halloween elements. We also have an amazing line up coming in September too! I'm off the charts excited about it! So I hope you'll head on over to the store on the 15th to check out the fabulous offerings. I will of course be back with some inspiration featuring some of the New Release elements, a special treat for me, as I don't usually get my hands on the New Release items until later on, so it's a treat for me to have got a few of the Halloween Release ahead of time and I'm super excited to share those makes with you very soon!
We've just finished our first Halloween Hop of the season, which you may have seen my make for in my previous posts. That lil' pumpkin shaped card was so much fun to create! Our winner from the hop has been announced and the lovely Meg Kennihan was that winner. Congratulations to Meg! We will be having lots of fun and fabulous promotions throughout our Halloween season, so if you're not part of our Whimsy Stamps Facebook Group, I encourage you to join and the banner above is linked to that Facebook group for easy click through. I will be back again very soon with another crafty adventure. In the meantime I wish you a wonderful remainder of your Summer as you head into Autumn if you're in the Northern Hemisphere. For us in the Southern Hemishphere, it's beginning to look rather Spring-like here already! The Magnolia's are out, the spring bulbs are blooming. My two favourites season, Spring and Autumn, love them both! Hugs to you all, see you again soon, Wends xoxo
(I share thumbnails to the elements I design with in order to make your search for them easier, in case you like something I've used. I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever. It helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I am proud to design for the companies I do and always feel happy to share where my inspiration and where my crafty stash comes from. I am occasionally gifted products to use, but I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)
