Whimsy Stamps ~ Glow in the Dark Halloween Slimline Card

Hi crafty friends, I am popping in with one of the extra cards I shared in the Whimsy Halloween Hop with Studio Light. It features some fabulous glow in the dark products from our sponsor, you can check out the IG post I shared a short while back for this card here. But I've not shared the details of this make here, so here's the full crafty adventure.

I created a fun slimline Zombie Graveyard scene and used some cool glow in the dark elements to pull of the look. The first thing I did was ink blend the panel with some oxide inks in citrus colours. I was going for a warm glow in the sky. I had my cobweb stamp out still from a previous make I'd used it for and decided to add some embossed spiderwebs in the background just for a bit of texture and fun. I slightly skipped the paper when lifting it up, so got a ghost impression, but I wasn't mad, it made it kind of grungy and I think looks quite cool. I'd love to say these things are intentional and I know what I'm doing, but honestly, it was just another happy accident!

I stamped the cobwebs background with VersaMark Ink and then embossed them with Glow In The Dark Embossing Powder from Ranger Ink. I've tried a couple of other brands and this is the only one which embossed well. I found the others were separating into glow in the dark powder and clear embossing powder and just didn't melt when heat was applied. So I was pleased this brand worked! The grungy look was my fault as I shifted the panel when I lifted it, but as I said above, I quite like the resulting skippity bits! I ink blended over the embossing and wiped it down well once the ink dried a little so it lifted the ink off the embossed details. I really like how this turned out.

I added all my black shadow layers to create the fun Zombie scene, which was made quite easy by the fabulous Haunted Graveyard Border Die. I edited the scene to add in a couple of Zombies. It's the same Zombie from the Roaming Monsters Die Set, but I used the reverse side for the half buried Zombie. Then I cut a moon from the fabulous Howling Night Die Set from the Glow In The Dark Foil by Studio Light. I also cut some to back the haunted house. So the windows would glow in the dark too. It's a pretty 'lit up' card when the lights go out!

Studio Light provided an incredibly generous parcel of stash for the Whimsy Team to work with for this last Halloween Hop. Which included some fantastic Glow In The Dark elements and some Plywood Frames. Sadly, because I live in New Zealand and we have strict laws about receiving wooden items by post, I couldn't be sent those. But I encourage you to check out my teamies creations in the hop, as I know several of them have created with these frames and they look amazing! I hope you can join us for the hop and I'm excited to share my next creation from this hop with you very soon. Hugs and happy hopping, Wends xoxo

(I share thumbnails to the elements I design with in order to make your search for them easier, in case you like something I've used. I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever. It helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I am proud to design for the companies I do and always feel happy to share where my inspiration and where my crafty stash comes from. I am occasionally gifted products to use, but I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)
