Whimsy Stamps ~ Lucky To Know You
Hey there crafty pals. This week is sure whizzing by fast. It'll be St Patrick's Day before you know it! Which is exciting for me this year, as the Whimsy Stamps Digital Divas are hosting a fun St Patrick's Day event on the Whimsy Stamps Facebook Page. If you've not had a chance to stop in and check out what St Paddy's Day mischief we're up to, go and take a peek!
I have made this fun St Patrick's Day card using this cute Leprechaun by Crissy Armstrong. He's the cutest Leprechaun I've ever seen! I have him surrounded by gold and green, which are of course the fabulous colours associated with St Patrick's Day. My favourite colour is green, so I LOVE St Patrick's Day for it's celebration of all things green.
I've coloured this cutie in shades of green and added some gold for good measure. I even decided to make his lil' dragonfly pal gold! He was so easy and such a joy to colour up!
I used a sentiment from my stash, which I think is so lovely with this sweet and wistful St Patrick's Day image. I used the centre of the sunshine die set to cut a whole bunch of gold 'coin's' for the photo staging. I'm sure I'll find a use for this wee pile of gold!
I also made a wee shamrock, which was too large in the end to use on the card itself, but was a fun photo prop. If you'd like to know how I made this, it was very simple. I just diecut 3 hearts from an older Whimsy Stamps set and folded them in half to create a little movement and interest in the petals. The heart had little hearts cut out of it, but I wanted to keep them in, so just sellotaped them behind the petals to keep them in place. I like the 'embossed' effect it gives. I layered the petals and stuck them onto a small circle base to keep all the pieces together. The wee stalk was cut from another die in my stash that was actually part of a 'bow' set. You could use a smaller heart die to create one of these as a card embellishment.
My lovely sunshine is a brand new die which arrived yesterday, yay for happy mail! I loved this Whimsy Stamps set when I saw it in this months new release and really wanted to work with it, so here it is having it's debut for me on this creation.
I also used the gorgeous clouds from the set. They're larger than the clouds from the other Whimsy Stamps set I often use, so it will be fab to have both options. I used an older Whimsy Stamps die to cut the sweet hearts border along the top. Don't ask me what inspired me to do this, I don't know, it was just a moment of inspiration where I thought, 'hey this could work'. I'm not sure if it's exactly as I'd envisioned, but it is a fun element I think.
I do hope you'll come and join our fun St Patrick's Day Event. Even if you've no time to colour, come and have a look at the DT creations, answer our fun poll and join in some of the stories and games we have going on. I'll be back really soon with another crafty adventure but in the meantime, I wish you a wonderful St Patrick's Day and happy St Patrick's Day crafting!
