Whimsy Stamps ~ St Patrick's Day Shenanigans & Malarkey
Hey there lovely crafty pals. Do you celebrate St Patrick's Day? Growing up in New Zealand, it wasn't really celebrated, but while we lived in London, there were always parties, parades and general shenanigans and malarkey come St Patrick's Day. The green beer and green mash with mushy peas! It was a lot of fun! So we are bringing some of that to you today on the Whimsy Stamps Facebook Page via our St Patrick's Day Event. We've been sharing jokes, stories and having fun with a St Patrick's Day Poll during this past week. But on Sunday, we will be judging the winner's of our St Patrick's Day colouring competition. So I hope you've had a chance to enter, if not, there's still a day to go! We'd love to see your Whimsy creations for St Patrick's Day. You can colour an actual St Patrick's Day image, as I have here, or any Whimsy Stamps image, but predominantly in green! The DT have been having huge fun with this event, so you have to head over there to take a peek at their St Paddy's Day mischief!
This rather cheeky we fella is called Kiss Me Irish from Dustin Pike who is a new artist to Whimsy Stamps. I think this image is hilarious and when I found the fun sentiment that I've used on this card, I just knew they would be a great pairing! We have a friend who has just celebrated his birthday right before St Patrick's Day and he is just the sort of cheeky chappy that would really get this card! We saw them for dinner Friday night, so gave him a 'little cheek', with this fun creation. It would have been a huge hit ordinarily, but we were all a little sombre on Friday.
I coloured the image with my Copic Markers, freehand drawing in the rainbow and had a bit of fun adding sparkles to the rainbow. I went a little overboard with the white pen I think, but it's got a good layer of wink of stella over the rainbow too, so it's pretty sparkly in reality. I had a lovely green paper in my stash that my baby sister had given me a couple of years ago as part of a 12x12 set of papers from a DCWV set called The Old World Stack. It's got fabulous rich coloured papers with texture and tone on tone designs. So the greens from this set were lovely for this St Patrick's Day creation. I used the darker paper that I've backed the image and base with to also create this fun little shamrock.
I didn't have one in my stash and really wanted to add something like that to my make. So I got creative! I diecut four tiny hearts, folded them in half to give the petals some movement and dimension and then stuck them down using my Olba Glue to a tiny circle backing and added a little tail for the stalk. I'm so chuffed with how this came out! A simple but fun little embellishment for St Patrick's Day.
How cute is this Leprechaun's tattoo?! You know you're Irish through and through if you've a shamrock on your rear. I think it's such a fun image, but for those who don't want to be greeted by a Leprechaun's rear, I've covered him with a watermark. Hehe. I'm sure you're not all that sensitive, but just in case!
I do hope you'll come and join our fun St Patrick's Day Event. Even if you've no time to colour, come and have a look at the DT creations, answer our fun poll and join in some of the stories and games we have going on. I'll be back really soon with another crafty adventure but in the meantime, I wish you a wonderful St Patrick's Day and happy St Patrick's Day crafting!
