Whimsy Wednesday ~ Sweet Baby Blues

Hey there crafty pals. I'm sharing my Whimsy Wednesday post with you today, a little late admittedly due to some last minute short notice crafting I needed to do last night. But here is a little something I prepared earlier, to borrow a phrase from one of my crafty besties, Chris. If you've not visited her blog, you sure should!

I am sharing a sweet wee card I created for my youngest nephew, who very soon, will be turning 2! I forgot to take a picture of this card after I added the 2 in the top right corner, which is a shame, as it looked fab! I know there's only one candle on the cake, but the second could be obscured right?!

How sweet is this lil' face?! I must say, it's such a good likeness for my darling nephew. He's such a lil' sweetheart and reminds me so much of my little guy at that age. I've coloured this gorgeous Sylvia Zet image up in blues and chose some gorgeous rich chocolate brown papers to work with it. The papers are from two sets of Whimsy Stamps Digital Papers. Mousy has the chocolate frosted cake in the pic, but I wanted to do blue frosting on the main cake. That wee mousy has the sweetest face!

I've used my current favourite card shape dies to create the notched layers. The largest layer, which is the card base, was created with the largest of the dies from this set, which is just a little shy of a 6x6 size. So makes a great card base. I layered a blue frame over this, which was on my desk unused from a previous make, than layered the lovely chocolate brown starry paper over that. The brown papers I've used are from two different Whimsy Stamps digital paper sets. I'll link them below.

I've used one of my Live & Love Crafts bark stars to finish the card and as I mentioned above, I added a little number '2' in the top right corner before giving this to my sis to take back to the US. We had such a lovely visit with them and it all went by too fast! We got to celebrate my wee niece's birthday while she was here, but my nephew's pressies were wrapped and packed for his big day in May and taken back to the States.

I added some Wink of Stella to the flame and also the wee cherry on the mousy's cake. Tiny touches, that in reality shine and sparkle and make a big difference.

Click on the banner above to be taken through to the Digital Release from March. There are some absolutely fabulous stamps that were released this month. We showcase a couple of Sylvia Zet's images each month now that we have her collection in digital format. Her full collection was added to the Digital Vault at the beginning of the year, so you don't need to wait for the images to be released each month, you can fill your boots! I just love her enchanting images and her babies were perfect for my birthday creations this month, for the littlies in our family. In case you missed it, here is my wee girl and boy side by side.

I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure. Until then, have fun checking out all the wonderful new releases from this month at Whimsy. You can click through on the banner above to the Digital Vault, or 'here' to the main rubber and die release. I wish you a wonderful week and happy crafting! Hugs xoxo
