Fab 'n' Funky ~ Winged Things
Hi there my lovely blog buddies. It's Autumn break here in New Zealand, so my kiddos are off school and enjoying some Autumn R&R. So I'm catching a few minutes here and there to schedule my blog posts. Today, we are kicking off a new challenge over on the Fab 'n' Funky Challenge Blog and the lovely Catherine is our hostess this week. She's chosen the theme 'Winged Things' for this challenge.
We are being sponsored by the fabulous Lacy Sunshine and I have taken this opportunity to make my sister-in-law's birthday card. It's a big birthday, so I chose an image that will be meaningful for her, having lived for 3 years in Japan before she had her kiddies. I really like this image from Heather, she has a whole series called The Enchantresses. They all have stylised wings. This image is called Far East Enchantress and her 'wings' are bamboo. Some of the other Enchantresses have really pretty flower wings. Go check them out!
Photographing this card was a real trick, with all the different pinks. The background frame is actually a really warm, pretty pink, but looks a little red in these shots. I just couldn't get the colour balance quite right, but I think you get the overall effect.
I struggled to get a shot that showed all the lovely Wink of Stella highlights, then finally did once I walked back inside and was under the spots! So here she is with all her glitter and bling showing. The spots fade out the colouring though, truer tones in the outdoor shots. Love my Promarkers, they never fail me! I edged the papers with my Ingvild Bolme chalk edgers again, those are fab too.
The paper I used was from a really old Papermania paper pad. I'll have to hunt out the details and come back with those. It came with a sheet of decoupage blooms, which I thought would look amazing used in the corner of the card. I didn't want to add lace and ribbon, to really allow the flowers to feature, and so they didn't get swamped. I kept it really quite CAS apart from those blooms and I love how it came together. I wasn't sure that the vision in my head would translate to the page well, so I'm stoked with the result! The angled piccy below gives you a better sense of the dimension of the blooms.
Right now though, I have to plan a few things for my baby sister's birthday which is today as the blog post goes live, but tomorrow as I'm writing this. I've been busy creating her a card today, so I'll be back soon with that reveal. Enjoy seeing what my teamies have been up to over on the Fab 'n' Funky blog and come and join us with your own 'Winged Things' creation. We'd love to see your take on this challenge. See you again soon. Have a fabby week. Hugs, Wends x

I find I can get a good shot of WoS under electric light, and then use my Photoscape programme to correct the colours.
