Sweet Stampin' ~ Create Your Own Background

Hey there crafty pals. It's time for a new challenge at Sweet Stampin' and our theme this week is 'Create Your Own Background'. Tonight I'm sharing a card with you that utterly broke me to create. This was a commissioned card by my brother, whose close friend had just lost their baby. Is there anything harder to create for?! It was an honour, but I cried the entire time I made this. I'd never met them or their little one, but it utterly broke me. We had experienced this loss not on our own immediate little family unit, but in our wider family circle and it made it all flood back and my heart was utterly broken while creating this. I hope it conveyed love and heartfelt sympathy to that family, I know that was my brothers intent. But how sad and hard to deal with this in life. There are not enough words to express this grief.

I used a beautiful image from A Day For Daisies called Over The Rainbow and a lovely sentiment from my stash. I'll have to hunt out where that is from, I can't recall as I'm writing this. But how perfect are those words?! I inked the background with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink and Twisted Citron. The texture of the paper created a fun extra bit of interest. I kept it very simple. I just diecut the panel with a lovely Whimsy Stamps Stitched Edge Rectangle Die. This has no retired, but they have a similar one here. The panel was mounted on foam for dimension and I fussy cut the image and an extra wee bluebird to finish the design. No embellishments necessary, CAS was key with this creation.

I added a touch of sparkle to this baby angel's wings, and a little 'silver lining' on the cloud, but honestly, how do you find a 'silver lining' in the loss of a child. This must be the most heartbreaking, soul aching loss to experience and I've experienced a bit!

I hope I've not caused any heartache sharing this creation. It's beautiful and it was necessary, but my heart is just so overwhelmed, I needed to share this lil' sweetie. Wishing any of you who have known loss like this, love and earth angels around you to prop you up and ease your heartache. Love and hugs, Wends xoxo

so beautiful Wendy. Having gone through this myself (35 years ago now) the thoughts that you express will be ease the heartache they will be feeling. It takes years to get over the hurting.

Oh my dear, what a difficult situation to create something, if you are somehow affected personally, but you did it awesome and I am sure they really loved your card to help them with their broken hearts.

Hugs Claudia
