Whimsy Stamps ~ Sweet Dolly
Where oh where has the time gone this past month. I had my computer fail and happily thanks to a tech savvy hubby, managed to retrieve my lost files, but I still do not have a replacement computer. So I'm sharing with the kids, which is making sharing my creations a bit of a challenge. I have managed to steel a bit of time this evening though, so you're getting a 'twofer'! My Southern Girls post if you missed it, I put live earlier this evening, and now I'd like to share my Sweet Dolly with you. I shared this creation as part of our Digital Divas Virtual Retreat Post. Usually when I create, it's always with someone in mind, but on this occasion, I'd yet to decide who this wee poppet was for. It happened to by my English pals little girl's 5th birthday and her party was 'Space themed' this year. Past years I've managed to create for the themes of her parties. (Her mama is party queen extraordinaire, the celebrations are AMAZING!) But this year, with lockdown, we'd not seen so much of them before her birthday, so I wasn't privvy to the 'theme' until it was too late to create. But I had an 'aha' moment, that took this creation through some subtle changes. Let's see if you spot them?!
This was the card as I shared it on the Whimsy blog, but when I decided to turn this into Elyana's Birthday card, I wanted it to look like 'her'.
I loved the colours I'd chosen to create this card in and the hair was actually kinda perfect for this wee poppet. My UK bestie is of Bengali descent, so her bubba is a gorgeous mix of her mama and papa and has beautiful skin, which didn't look at all like this colouring. So I pulled out my copics and went back over the skin with a slightly darker shade to better reflect this cutie pie.
It's hard to show the sparkle I added to the flowers in the shots above, so here is one taken just before I recoloured her, which captures all the sparkles quite well.
This shot was not quite a sparkly, but shows the colours nicely after I recoloured the image. I just adore how this came out as it really does look so much like my UK besties wee girl. Our families are very close and I have been very involved in her baby days, so have a real soft spot for this wee hunny. We shared a gorgeous family dinner together the week of her birthday, so gave her parcels and this card then. So sweet to be together again after weeks of lockdown, as we usually share a family dinner together every couple of weeks. So it was food for the soul being all together again and all the sweeter to celebrate Elyana's birthday.
Thanks for popping in today and I hope you enjoyed seeing this creation and its transformation. I really love it and was happy that it went down a treat with the birthday girl too. I'll be back again soon to share another crafty adventure. I've quite a number of my Whimsy creations to share, which I've just not had access to the computer to do. So there may be a bit of a string of them coming! Hehe, it's the London buses all over! Hugs, and happy crafting xoxo
