Whimsy Stamps ~ Día de Muertos

Hey crafty friends, I'm back with yet another Halloween creation (I so hope you're not rolling your eyes right now! Because I've been having SO much fun!) Today I'm sharing a fun creation I made with one of my darling friends in mind. She's a fan of the amazing make-up you see at Día de Muertos parades and has worn some for Halloween a couple of times if I recall correctly. This pal of mine is amazing, her make-up skills are legendary and we've had many really fun Halloween celebrations together with our kiddos and it's been a blast! We live a little further apart now, so I'll miss her this Halloween! When I saw this stamp set I knew I wanted to create something for her and when I saw there was a kitty in the set, I knew that was what I needed to use for her. She's a devoted kitty mama, so this card was perfect for her!

I absolutely LOVE this amazing paper and it was so fun with the mix of decorated skeletons and the inclusion of the cats in the paper itself, made it a simple leap to include the cat stamp as the feature. I coloured the cat as close to the paper as possible as I wanted it to feel cohesive. I did add lots of sparkle though! I also added a drippy frame which I'd sprayed with Mulled Cider and Burning Ember Red Mica Spray Stains, so has a lovely shimmer too in the right light. You can see some of this shimmer better in the reel I shared on Instagram. I popped the Mica Stain layer of cardstock up onto a red foam mount before adhering it to the card base, so it has a lovely bit of depth and dimension.

One of my favourite bits of this creation, is that the cat is mounted on an Action Wobble! I show this in the Instagram reel. It's just so fun and so compelling, it's hard to stop once you start! Hehe, I must be part cat!

Here's my card insitu at my pal's place, check out the cool wine label?! She does Halloween SO well, a gal after my own heart! It's almost Halloween here in New Zealand and I must confess I'm feeling a little sad not to be seeing this pal today! Tricky when Halloween falls on a week day and the weather looks to be horrid, so could be a bit of a bust, but fingers crossed we still get some Trick or Treaters!

We are already gearing up for Christmas now at Whimsy Stamps and you can see the amazing creations showcasing the adorable latest releases in store. Click through on the banner above to head straight there. I am of course hanging on to Halloween as long as I can and I will be back with yes, yet more Halloween before I'm done! But I promise I'll be all about Christmas very soon. This Halloween season has been such fun for me and I've been so honoured to have been offered a place on the Halloweeners Team, the whole team are such incredible designers, I'm seriously in awe of their talents! So yes, I'm holding on a little longer with a few more makes to share and we have a wonderful Instagram Hop to wrap up the term starting at 4pm EST on Halloween! So I can't wait for that fun!! Hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo
