Whimsy Stamps ~ Here For The Boos

Hey crafty pals, I'm back today with a fun creation I've made for Halloween. I saw a sentiment on a Whimsy set that said 'Spider Cider' which got my brain spinning and thinking about creating a 'Cocktail Menu' for a Halloween Party. I wanted to create a 'grown up' look for the menu front, so chose to do a gatefold cover and used a gorgeous paper from the Vintage Halloween Paper Pack. I really love this paper and wanted to find 'the right' make to use it on, where the paper could be the feature, so I absolutely love how this turned out. I edged the paper with VersaFine Clair ink before adding it to the gatefold card base.

This gatefold design opens in the middle with the fabulous Nested Webs Die Set glued on the left hand side, but free on the right. I cut the base web layer from glitter foam and the top layer from white cardstock which I distressed with Walnut Stain Distress Oxide. I stamped that fabulous '31 October' in VersaFine Clair and only once, as I loved the distressed skippity bits. So chose not to do a second stamping, even though it was in my MISTI, so I could have.

The gatefold menu opens to reveal the name of the party cocktails, which I of course took from sentiments which fit the theme. I called the first cocktail, The Zombie, which does actually exist as a cocktail, so that was a nice easy one. The second cocktail I had to call the Franken Schmutz, because it makes me laugh and I love the sentiment in this set that says 'you have some schmutz on your face'. The cocktail which goes with this is of course the Frankenstein, another 'real' cocktail. Spider cider also exists as a Halloween twist on an Autumn Cider and the final cocktail, I found the sentiment 'Hauntingly Sweet' which was a great fit for the Gomez and Morticia cocktail. A hat tip to the Addams family and one I thought our lovely Creative Director Deb Davis might get a particular kick out of. This cocktail is my favourite! I've used a few different stamp sets to put this menu together and took images from a mix of Halloween and non-Halloween Stamp sets. The cocktail in the bottom right, I masked to replace the orange slice that was initially in there and replaced it with an eyeball for a Halloween twist. I've seen these done with small pickled onions in real cocktails.

I've actually made up the recipe pages for these cocktails so if you'd like a copy, you can download it here. Do let me know if you try any of them! Halloween is fast approaching now, so I'm right in the thick of decorating and creating for Halloween. But have had a few days break, as we've just had my in-laws here. My mother-in-law had fun looking at all my décor and creative adventures. She's not a Halloween fan, but appreciates the artistry, so that was fun.

I'll be back very soon with another creative adventure and we are about to kick off another game in our Whimsy Facebook Group, so come join us if you can. I've linked the latest release above if you've not yet checked that out too, so fun! Hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo

(I use affiliate links where possible, which helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice. I receive a small commission, which costs you no extra whatsoever, but helps these companies see where their marketing efforts are most effective and is a way they can say 'thank you' to and support their hard working affiliates and design team members. I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.
