Spellbinders ~ Peace Dove Die Set

Hey crafty friends, as promised I'm back with the next creation I've made with the lovely Peace Dove Die Set from Spellbinders Stampendous release. This is such an elegant die set and I know I'll be using this several times in the lead up to Christmas. The imagery is so lovely for this time of year. There are several sizes of this dove and some beautiful word dies too. You may have seen the Peace Word Die and the To You and Yours I used on the embossed panel I shared yesterday. So beautiful cut from the Gold cardstock. Today, I have made a very clean and simple card with this die set.

I've taken a linen weave textured cardstock and created a top folding card base for this design. I've ink blended the central area of the card front with Distress Oxide Inks in Rustic Wilderness, Mowed Lawn and Bundled Sage, working from dark to light out from the centre. I just wanted to add a little interest behind the tree and wanted to stay with the same hues as the green diecuts.

I diecut the largest of the smaller doves from white felt for a bit of soft texture and interest. I added a bit of black pen to the eye so that had definition but otherwise, nothing else was needed on that lovely dove, it was done. I diecut a little sprig to add to its beak from the set, it's the second smallest one from the set. There are several sizes, this is one of the tiny ones and was perfect for this dove size. I added a sentiment from the Season of Wonder Sentiments Clear Stamp Set, which is from the Season of Wonder Collection by Stampendous. This had a lovely message which included the word peace and I thought was a lovely fit for this design. I used a wider angle corner rounder for two of the corners and cut a mat from gold vellum. I heat embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder. I used the same linen weave textured cardstock so the white matched the card base. I think I would choose a smooth cardstock next time, as it took 3 attempts to get the embossing powder to adhere well to this more textured cardstock, I ditched the first two attempts, but got a pretty decent stamp with the third attempt, so ran with it. I popped the sentiment up on foam to adhere it to the tree to complete this simple design.

I added interest to the Christmas Tree shape with the All Wrapped Up 3D Embossing Folder from the August Dancin' Christmas Friends Collection. It gives a fun touch of texture with its twisted rope effect. I did try to run it through a second time thinking I could get the texture to run from both directions, a bit like creating a plaid, but the second pass flattened the first, so it wasn't visible at all! But I still love how it came out. I've used the lovely Blue Spruce cardstock from Spellbinders for the tree and little sprig. I've had this cardstock for a while, so not sure it's still in store. Any lovely rich green would be gorgeous though. I did spray the tree with a Lindy's Mica Spray before embossing it, so the tree has a lovely shimmer and some fun shifts in colour, as this Lindy's spray has a brown ink base, but mica in green hues.

I'm excited to share some more creations with a few more elements from this latest release with you soon. Until then, be sure to pop over to the Spellbinders Store to check out their full release or if you're up for a little sale shopping, check out their fabulous Stamping Sale linked above. Hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo
