Whimsy Stamps ~ Witchy Woman

Hey crafty friends, I am back with my second creation from the recent Halloween release at Whimsy Stamps. I had such fun creating this card. I absolutely LOVE the inky greens on this background. I used a mix of Distress Inks and Distress Mica Spray Stains to add the green mystical background. I love green, it's my favourite colour, so this was a joy to create! You can see the reel I made better showing the sparkle and shine on this card, over on Instagram.

I started this crafty adventure by ink smooshing some Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn Oxide Inks onto a craft mat and layering the inks. After this had dried, I sprayed over this with Distress Mica Spray Stains in Bubbling Cauldron, Wicked Elixir and Holly Branch. I let the panel dry completely, pressed it under a heavy book overnight to work out the kinks from all the wet medium and the panel was ready to work with.

I stamped the fabulous sentiment from the new Witch Broom Sale Clear Stamp Set in VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink. I had to stamp several times as the mica resists stamping with this ink to layer up the colour. After it dried I did run over the sentiment carefully with my Zig Fudebiyori Black Brush Pen to deepen the colour. Next, I diecut the cityscape and the shadow layer. Black for the back layer of apartments and a mid-grey for the front layer of the cityscape. I used yellow for the shadow to create the window lights. I offset the two layers when adding them for a bit of depth and interest. I diecut the whole scene to frame it, with the Wonky Stitched Rectangles Die.

I added a bit of Mica Spray Stain to the Witch Whispers Sister Diecut. I cannot recall which Mica I used on the witch diecut, I was deep in the creating, not paying great attention to my process! I wanted to add just a touch of blue-green shimmer, so it's one of those colours, but no clue which, sorry. I didn't want her stark black, so a very fine spray was perfect, to give her a magical sparkle. This witchy is my absolute favourite witch die I've ever scene! She's fabulous! She makes me think of Samantha from Bewitched, I just love this silhouette! I have my eye on the old witch version now too! Whimsy has released some absolutely stunning witch images these past couple of Halloweens and this one was SO fun to play with. I finished the card by matting the scene onto a thin black cardstock mat and then mounted it to a top folding A2 card which I created from Gina K Designs Key Lime Cardstock. The perfect green to match this inky panel!

One final pic to show the 'Glow In The Dark' element. I have some sticky backed Glow In The Dark sheets from StudioLight, which I diecut with the fabulous textured moon from the Howling Night Die Set and popped that in the top right corner of the design, for the witch to fly in front of and be silhouetted against. I love this feature of the design.

I hope you love this Halloween Release as much as we all do at Whimsy. I'm super excited to see all the fun and fabulous sets in this release and as I mentioned I am especially excited to have my very own poem (written by me 10 years ago) turned into a fabulous sentiment set by the very talented Deb Davis!! High five for an awesome collaboration. I could not be more thrilled with what Deb did to bring this poem to life as a sentiment stamp! For a limited time, you can get this poem stamp as a FREEBIE if you spend more than $50 on Whimsy Stamps physical products. It's not automatically added to your cart, you need to add it, but it will be automatically discounted once your cart reaches over $50. Let me know if you get the stamp, I'd love to see what you create with it! You're also able to purchase it separately, so whatever suits your budget.

Thank you friends for popping in to check out my latest crafty adventure, I know you're not all as crazy about Halloween crafting as I am, so thanks for your indulgence if that's the case! There will be many more Halloween makes from me through September and October, but they'll be peppered with some other makes too, so I hope you'll still pop in even if Halloween isn't your jam. Hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo

(I share thumbnails to the elements I design with in order to make your search for them easier, in case you like something I've used. I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever. It helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I am proud to design for the companies I do and always feel happy to share where my inspiration and where my crafty stash comes from. I am occasionally gifted products to use, but I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)
