Whimsy Stamps ~ Free Broom Rides

Hey crafty friends, how fun is this latest release from Whimsy Stamps?! So much Halloween goodness! I am loving each and every set and I can't wait to get my hands on more of it to play with! I have another cute creation today featuring one of the latest stamp sets released. It has a super fun broom theme, so I couldn't resist creating a box card scene depicting some fun flying adventures!

I used the fabulous Witch Broom Sale Clear Stamps for the sentiment and the kitty that is closest on the path. I absolutely LOVE how these kitties fit in that space to create that little clowder of cats. Their differing sizes helped with a sense of perspective too, which was cool. The smaller ones sitting further away in the scene. I also love how the eyes of the front cat sat over a pale pink part of the paper (yes I took my time to line it up that way), so the eyes glow pink. That lil' 'stink eye' expression just cracks me up too, this is SUCH a brilliant stamp! The top part of that paper is actually the trees you see off to the side on the flaps there. It just worked so well with the scene to add them there and meant no waste of the left over paper from that front panel. The sections worked so cohesively together, even though they were from two separate pages. I have used a corner rounder from my stash to create the rounded corners on the box base and all the papers. A quick an easy trick to make the completed design look a little more polished and finished.

I added two struts down the middle of the box card to add the floating/flying elements to. I added a pink grass strip to the front strut and a little row of trees to the back strut just to add a little more interest in that middle section. These were cut from a panel I ink blended with Kitsch Flamingo and Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Inks, so they would tone with the beautiful pinks of the papers. I used clear acetate strips to add the witches that are flying overhead and the little witch in front. This just ensures there's no white cardstock showing, which would interrupt the visual flow through to the back of the scene. The paper in back is just dreamy, I added the full panel, so if you look up from the base, it goes all the way down filling that entire space. I would love for more of it to have shown, I think this will be a re-order very soon!

This box card design does close very easily flat for posting and if care is taken when adding the flying elements, so they don't reach outside the boundaries of the card when closed, it will fit well into an envelope. The box base I created with a lovely strong shimmery orange cardstock. It's a good heavy weight probably between 250-300gsm equivalent to around 110lb cover weight. So it stands up well to having multiple embellishments added. My scene is actually quite sparse, many more little details could have been added, but I really didn't want to swamp the paper. The beauty of that was part of what I wanted to feature. Flat and closed, this box card measures 7.5 x 5.5 inches. It's just too big for a 5x7 envelope, so either needs a custom one or hand delivery. I'll be creating a custom one to send it to my niece.

I like to decorate the side flaps of the box usually with something that just supports the rest of the design, rather than detracts or wants to be a feature of it's own. Though this can be a fun place to add extra sentiments. I've done that in previous box card designs, but for this one, the Autumnal trees were just perfect. The little row of trees that I ran along the back strut is from the Tree Assortment Die Set, the front strut I used the Grass and Cloud Edger Die Set. These are 'essential kit' sets. Used for loads of scene building.

The little flying witches are from the Roaming Monsters Die Set. I just glued two together to get the pair flying together. I attached them behind the tree strut, so they fly in front of the sun in the background. You can see the struts a bit better from this angle too.

I created a little wooden sign to add the fun sentiment from the new Witch Broom Sale Clear Stamp Set using the Slimline Fence Die Set. The paper I used was printed from Crissy Armstrong's Digital Paper Set - Rustic Wood and Brick Papers. I did some partial diecutting on the edges of the sign, but left the body of the sign free to add the stamp to. I stamped the sentiment in VersaFine Clair Pinecone Ink and then clear heat embossed it.

This wee girlie is from the Wicked Cute Stamp Set. These adorable trick or treat characters were a favourite last Halloween. So adorable! She was perfect to play 'hostess' to the flying witches, or has she just come down from a flight and is gearing up to go again, you decide! I've coloured her with Copic Markers. The pinks I used were RV66 for the deeper hues, RV34 and RV32. She's rather run to colour with all that fabulous hair! I've used E99, YR27, YR24 and Y35 to colour her hair. I gave her green eyes, because I love green eyes. She was quick and easy to colour.

I'm excited to get this to my little niece. She's six now and SO excited for Halloween this year, I know she'll just adore this as room décor in the lead up to Halloween, my sis' tells me she's already working on her outfit! Last year she dressed as Wednesday, how cool is that?!

I hope you love this Halloween Release as much as we all do at Whimsy. I'm super excited to see all the fun and fabulous sets in this release and as I mentioned I am especially excited to have my very own poem (written by me 10 years ago) turned into a fabulous sentiment set by the very talented Deb Davis!! High five for an awesome collaboration. I could not be more thrilled with what Deb did to bring this poem to life as a sentiment stamp! For a limited time, you can get this poem stamp as a FREEBIE if you spend more than $50 on Whimsy Stamps physical products. It's not automatically added to your cart, you need to add it, but it will be automatically discounted once your cart reaches over $50. Let me know if you get the stamp, I'd love to see what you create with it! You're also able to purchase it separately, so whatever suits your budget.

Thank you friends for popping in to check out my latest crafty adventure, I know you're not all as crazy about Halloween crafting as I am, so thanks for your indulgence if that's the case! There will be many more Halloween makes from me through September and October, but they'll be peppered with some other makes too, so I hope you'll still pop in even if Halloween isn't your thing. Hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo

(I share thumbnails to the elements I design with in order to make your search for them easier, in case you like something I've used. I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever. It helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I am proud to design for the companies I do and always feel happy to share where my inspiration and where my crafty stash comes from. I am occasionally gifted products to use, but I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)

I fell in love with these early in my crafting journey, because I loved how you could blend the colours and not have sharp lines. I also love how vivid and lush the colours are.

What a wonderful Halloween project. I love the pink/orange scenery in combination with the black silhouettes, not to mention the cute little witch in her polka-dot dress. Thanks for joining the Alphabet challenge.
