Sweet Stampin' ~ Gingham/Tartan/Plaid

Hey crafty friends, I'm back with our latest challenge at Sweet Stampin' which is a Gingham/Tartan/Plaid challenge. If you know me well, you'll know I'm a little nutty for Ginghams Tartans and Plaids. There's Scottish heritage in both mine and my hubby's family lines. My family line takes us back to Robert the Bruce apparently. So is there little wonder that I love Tartans and Plaids?! Nope there's not. But the Gingham, well that's also easy to explain. I grew up in a small town just south of Versailles called Ville d'Avray and have wonderful memories of visiting Paris when I was small. I had a 'thing' for the red and white gingham tablecloths in the French cafés and it has remained a favourite textile of mine. My kitchen is full of red and white and my favourite tea-towels, of which I have a large number, are my red and white gingham tea-towels. I also have the cutest red and white gingham pinny. So there you have it, an explanation as to why I am pretty keen on this theme and therefore crashed the party for Team Susan's challenge. 

I love plaids and tartans and would happily have a whole page of it on a card, but I also think that a little touch of tartan or plaid can go a long way to lift a design. Which is exactly what I was going for here on this card. I used a green woodgrain paper as the base of the design, from an older Kaisercraft paper pad. I then added some texture with a fun cable sweater design, embossed panel. This was a magazine cover gift, I'm not sure which issue it's from, will have to hunt that down. I added my stamped element which is a beautiful buck, I don't recall which set this is from, it's a cling stamp, but I cannot recall the stamp right now. I must get a better system, if it's a few days since I created the design I don't always recall the details! I simply stamped the buck in brown ink and kept the stamping very plain for striking effect. But I wanted something to anchor the design and this is where my plaid comes in. I had a fabulous wide plaid Washi Tape in my stash which I think was a perfect anchor to this design, which I then topped it off with a wrap of gold twine and a Christmas jingle bell. I added a simple printed sentiment to finish et voilà.

The cable knit embossing folder I'm sure is from a magazine cover gift, but I cannot find my reference for this currently.
